| We found this packing crate board under the cabin. Fred G. Baker is Grandpa's grandfather, born in 1854. I love being 'linked' like this to other generations at our cabin. |

| First we took off the front siding and saved it to use later, now we are exposed to the world. Jason Henry came up to help, we were there by 8:00 am |

| Scott O'Neal helps to destroy the top railing |
![]() |
| Brock O'Neal also is taking down the railings and front of the porch |
![]() |
| Grandpa was the 'Keeper of the Fire'. We kept burning the old wood all day |
![]() |
| Stairs are down |
![]() |
| Uncle Steve destroyed the stairs making it fire ready |
![]() |
| Clean up and throw out old boards, Kim and Lynn were clean up experts |
![]() |
| Porch is down and gone |
![]() |
| So different looking |
![]() |
| JS West finally arrived an hour late to deliver the wood |
![]() |
| Now we laid out the boards for the carpenters |
![]() |
| First post up and metal brackets nailed on |
![]() |
| The beginning of the wood foundation |
![]() |
| Berry kept busy with Grandpa keeping the fire stoked |
![]() |
| Boards are leveled two ways and Steve, Matt, Mark and Nick hammered in all the brackets |
![]() |
| Working from both sides of the porch, getting the wood beams up and leveled. |
![]() |
| Leveling was a big deal during this stage |
![]() |
| I think this is called 'framing it in'. Putting the boards around the outside. We also learned how to 'weave' the wood. Thank you Scott |

| Beautiful beams |
![]() |
| This string was used for leveling and making sure everything is lined up. This was done several times |
![]() |
| Pictures from underneath |
![]() |
| Now we fed boards to Mel, Nick and Brock for the next level of wood, called a joist. |
![]() |
| Framed this in again |
![]() |
| See the frame job and all the railing posts laid out to go up? |
![]() |
| This fire burned all day. Thank you, Grandpa |
![]() |
| Another clean up queen...Kelly. Keep those boards burning |
![]() |
| We had visitors..Bob Haas' mother. Her parents owned the cabin across the street where the Millers now live. |
![]() |
| First railing up and more string leveling |
![]() |
| Busy tending that fire |
![]() |
| Washer and bolts going into the railing |
![]() |
| We decided to move the wood pile to the back, to avoid too much attention. Everyone gets in on the action. Matt and Taylor |
![]() |
| Steve and Michael |
![]() |
| Mark and Jason and others not pictures |
![]() |
| The wood pile has been moved |
![]() |
| Railings and long 12 x 2s are up |
