ASU

Amanda- You forgot someone.. the game was Awesome! Go Mikey!

ASU vs. UC Berkeley

Thought I would just add a little more about the fun weekend at home. It was so fun to see everybody and we really missed Bake and Jenn, but I guess in two weeks you will be saying that you missed Jordan and I at the USC game. Sorry we can't come home again. I am looking forward to the baby shower though.

We are so lucky to have Big Mike as our brother. It was so fun to watch him play. Youfeel kind of special knowing that he is our brother out there playing. He has a great family. The Marquardts were so fun to sit with. They both look great with all the weight that they have lost.

I was sitting next to a lady at the ASU game and we started talking and I asked her if she was going to the USC game and she said that last year there were these guys who were faking that they were parking guys and had parking spots and would guide people to park in certain spots and when the lady came out of the game her car was broken into and all of her luggage was stolen and many cars were towed. The police are aware of this, but just be careful when parking for the game. USC area is pretty ghetto.

Here are just some random pics. from this weekend. Hope you all like them!

New Music

Guys, I love finding new music and love when others share. Some of these aren't too new, but thought I might share with you the stuff I am loving right now.

Missy Higgins ( Jordan heard her on the plane)
Corrine Bailey Rae ( Reminds me of India Arie)
Augustana ( Heard on VHI)
Snow Patrol( Chasing Cars is the song) on the Movie, " Last Kiss"
The Fray
Amos Lee( I saw him in Concert with Nora Jones a few years ago and have been listening to him. A good song is called, " Colors" You will recognize it.

Maybe this is all old stuff, but thought I would throw it out there for anyone that wants to do some downloading!

Justin Timberlake's Granny Dessert Recipe!

My new favorite singer is Jusin Timberlake. His new C.D. came out this week and I have been downloading song after song. I saw him on ABC Good morning America and think he is a cuttie. Not as cute as my cuttie. He had his Granny on the show and she made a delicious looking dessert that I am dying to try. It is very fattening and way high in calories and everything else, but Oh my gosh I NEED TO TRY IT! I want to share it with you. I was frantically looking it up online to add to my recipes:
Granny's Blueberry Crunch Cake:
Ingredients-
1 tall can crushed pineapple, drained
3C. blueberries( one of the top healthiest foods to eat)
1 C. Sugar
1 C. chopped pecans
1 stick margarine, melted
1 box yellow cake mix
Optional: 2 Tablespoons more margarine and 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees, Buter 9 by 13 baking dish. Pour can of pineapple into baking dish. Coat Blueberries with 3/4 c. sugar and pour ontop of pineapple. Optional: add 1 tsp. melter margarine to blueberries. Sprinkle dry cake mix on top of blueberries. Optional: add 1/2 cup chopped pecans to cake mix before sprinkling. Drizzle melted stick of margarine on top of cake. Mix 1/4 cup sugar with 1 cup pecans and sprinkle on top of everything. It didn't say how long, but I am pretty sure it was an hour. Just check it.I can't wait to try it. Hopefully no heart attacks or clogged arteries come from somebody trying this recipe. It just looks so good, especially cause his Granny uses her own grown blueberries. Yum-O! Happy Baking! -Mands

No Name Recipe!

So, I am loving the crock pot lately. Jage and I are on a new budget plan and I am trying to be more creative with what is in my cupboards and cooking. Instead of running out to the grocery store right after I have watched Rachel Ray cook up something and I want to make it I just search through the fridge and freezer and make something up. I tried this last night :
Ingredients:
2 pieces chicken boneless breast ( unfrozen)
1/2 can salsa
1/2 C. sour cream
1/2 C. green bell peppers ( left over in my fridge)
salt/pepper and garlic salt
Salt and pepper and garlic salt the Chicken and throw it all in to the crock pot with the rest of the ingredients on high for 60 minutes and then pull apart the chicken with two forks and let cook for another 30 minutes or so and then serve on top with hot rice. It was really good. It had that spicy taste, but the sourcream cooled it down. yummy! You can probably add hot peppers and more red peppers, but the two red peppers that I had in my grocery cart were $3.63 for two and I thought we could do without those. Please pass along more recipes. Mom, I will look for some quick, easy veggie meals.Let me know if you Try it and name it! - Mands
p.s. Lets start up a Morphy/Marquardt/Glenn recipe book. Hmmm. . . Christmas gift idea!

Update on Derek!

Last night we went to dinner at the Jones' house and Derek was in town to pick up his car and the rest of his stuff at the Beachwalk house. It was really good to see him, and really sad too. He showed us the huge gash in his neck where the Doctor took out one of his tumors to do a biopsy on.. eeew.

Well, he had a few tests this week but they aren't able to give a definite staging until after his testing on Monday. Hodgkin's comes in 4 stages and each stage is labeled with an A or a B. The doctor has told Derek that he is AT LEAST a stage III B. I am sure that Jordan could tell you a little more about all this, but from my understanding the stages go something like this:
  • Stage 1 means there is Hodgkin's lymphoma in only 1 group of lymph nodes or lymphoma in one body organ only
  • Stage 2 means Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2 or more groups of lymph nodes or an organ and 1 or more group of lymph nodes. In both cases, the two sites of lymphoma must be on the same side of the diaphragm
  • Stage 3 means that lymph nodes on both sides of the diaphragm have Hodgkin's lymphoma
  • Stage 4 means that many groups of lymph nodes contain Hodgkin's lymphoma and it has spread to body organs such as the liver, bones or lungs
The test on Monday will tell if the cancer has spread to his organs or bones. He does know that it was found on the Lymph's on his neck, his armpit, his chest, and his pelvis. So it seems as though its pretty advanced. Its weird to think that he had Cancer when we were all at Matt and Kay's wedding!

Derek is honestly really positive about the whole situation. I am sure its a little different behind closed doors. He is going to start Chemotherapy in two weeks. The only thing he has asked is for everyone to pray for him.

Love you guys

Arizona Trip

Hi Family,
I thought I would share a little of our Arizona trip with you. We, minus Mere, traveled first to Laguna West Design to meet Jenny and pick out a couch. I am still nervous about the color of the couch, but it should arrive soon. I hope to death that I like it. We went out to dinner with Jen and Bake and then stayed at their darling house. It is so cute simply stylin. We didn't see them long because after dinner they had to take off for Ben's wedding. The next morning we began traveling south to see Aunt June.

We stayed there about 2 hours. The dogs aren't too fond us us but it was nice to check in with Aunt June. We hadn't seen her for quite a while. She served us drinks and then we took a drive to see the sites. We saw the oasis where Mary and Bill live and now I know why they travel the distance. The setting is fabulous and their home and golf course are so well manicured and beautiful. We left June's and went straight to Camilla's little shop. It is so amazing to see all the great fabrics and choices for a nursery. I can't believe it. People are crazy for babies room. I was reminded how talented Camilla is!
Then we went to watch Michael during practice. Oh my, Dad got a special badge to allow him to be on the sidelines. He thought he was all that! He had quite the conversation with Cutter. He-he. The next day, Saturday, was ASU's Football Fan Day. Every little kid in Phoenix wanted a picture or a signature with the big football players or a cheerleader. Everybody dressed the part, including Jordan Hill's baby. Jordan lines up next to Michael and loves the Lord and his family right along with Mikey. Now that's a strong duo!

On Saturday night we then drove to Tuscan for Katy Fisher's wedding. She was so happy and the night was beautiful. I am so happy for her. Life is good.

She is going back to So. Cal. to continue working on editing of movies. Well, that was our trip. We headed home on Sunday. I love those short and sweet weekends away. Too bad we don't do it more often! It's fun. I love you all. Mama Morphy

Mom's Stroginoff

Is that how you even spell Stroginoff. I thought I would pass this along to Cam and Jenn, because it is so good and it is pretty easy.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pound hamburger
1 tsp. sugar
1 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
salt and pepper
garlic
1 (8oz) pkg. egg shell noodles
1 cup sour cream
1 (3 oz. ) pkg. cream cheese
6 small green onions
1 cup shredded chedder cheese
Okay that kind of seems like alot, sorry. It is just really good and filling and you will have a ton left over. Jage always laughs at me,because I really have never learned how to cook for two. It is always 6-8 I am cooking for. We always have left overs. I love left overs though.
Directions:
Brown the ground beef and add salt and pepper and garlic salt for taste.Add in the sugar and tomato sauce and simmer for 15 minutes.
Cook the noodles seperately.
Mix sourcream, cream cheese, and onions in a seperate bowl.
In a casserole dish spray the span and then add your first layer add 1/3 or 1/4 of your noodles, then layer the meat mix, then the sourcream mix. Layer over and over again until ingredients are gone and then sprinkle with cheese at the end. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Enjoy!

News from Mom

Hi everyone!

Here is the new dog Kesar. She is a young one and loves to play and swim all the time. She is a bit of a handful and I need extra chlorine for the pool most of the time. Cute though. We have to control her jumping and play biting. Then I need you to meet Alex, our new German sister. Bake/Jen and Camilla/Mike met her. She so reminds me of my own girls. Wierd. She is very gentle and sweet and at the moment we are all very concerned about her sister Stephanie, who is in Fresno. It is not a good situation at all. Alex is a vegetarian and is allergic to nuts, so my challenge is to feed her well balanced foods. She traveled to Phoenix with us and saw a part of the country she hasn't seen before. She is very studious and diligent about her school work. Then I wanted to share about the Fisher wedding. We were so sorry to miss Ben's wedding but Katy had only 88 people there and we felt so honored to share in her special day. There is a web site for her pics but I wanted you to see the girls. This is Mere on the first day of school. She is a big sophomore now. No more messing around. This is the year she needs to get great grades. I know it will determine her future. Please help me encourage her. She is a great kid and really a very good socializer and entertainer. She is a people person....just like the rest of you.

So are you proud of me? I have a post and pictures. There are more where those came from. I love you all.
